PEFC, founded in 1999, is an international non-profit organization that promotes the sustainable management of forests worldwide. The abbreviation stands for "Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes".
Sustainable management of forests means that one takes into account both the economic, ecological and social functions that the forest has. Both now and in the future.
By certification of sustainable forest management and the entire chain that extends to the end user, this is called Chain of Custody, PEFC can guarantee that the products with a PEFC quality mark actually come from a sustainable managed forest.
